Instrumental Music Director 

 

Mr. Cedric Knox

 

Mr. Knox is in his third year of teaching at Severna Park Middle School. He taught for five years prior as the Band Director at Benjamin D. Foulois Creative and Performing Arts Academy in Morningside, MD and for three years prior to that he taught as an Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher in Prince George’s County. Previously, Mr. Knox was a General Music Teacher and taught band as well as choir and in Lafayette, Indiana. He also earned the State of Maryland Governor’s Citation for Excellence in Education in 2017.

 

Mr. Knox completed two undergraduate degrees Cum Laude in music education and oboe performance from the University of New Mexico. He then attended the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and earned his Master's of Music degree in Music Education. Finally, he has also earned his level one and two certifications in Kodaly which is a philosophy of music education based on singing and solfège.  

 

Mr. Knox lives in Cape St. Claire with his wife (who is in the United States Marine Band) and his daughter, Adeline and son, Joel. He loves to spend his free time cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family!

 

Mr. Knox teaches all Band and Orchestra classes at Severna Park Middle School as well as Concert Band and Concert Orchestra.
